Physical properties of controlled porosity sintered bronze are outstanding, considering that porosity is approximately 45% by volume. Tensile strengths range from 2,000 to 7,000 psi, ductility 3% to 4% elongation, and density is .17 lbs./cu.in.

High compression strength and formability in compression are also present. Bending angles of 40° can be achieved without breaking or particle migration. The material can sustain temperatures from -65° to 930°F (non-oxidizing atmospheres) or 400°F (oxidizing atmospheres).

Resistance to corrosion is comparable to that of cast bronze. Most finished parts can be plated on the surface or in depth to increase resistance to corrosion. Secondary machining of surfaces is also possible. An acid etch treatment will restore porosity to about 90% of the original porosity after machining.

See table #2 for grades of material available and corresponding physical properties.
